Video Production IGrades: 10 – 12 Credit: 1 Prerequisite: None In this course, students will investigate television production, filmmaking and sound design. Students will be exposed to screenwriting, storyboarding, cinematography, editing techniques using Final Cut Pro and Motion software, audio production, and the entire production process. Students will learn appropriate vocabulary, grammatical usage, and stylistic structures specific to television and film production. Public Service Announcements, Documentary filmmaking, and Television Broadcast, short movie trailers, and other industry related aspects of video production and broadcasting will be highlighted. CTE and VPAA * Students registering for this class will have an opportunity to travel to WBRW TV Michigan Community Media’s state of the art studio and production facility. |
Video Production II & III
Grades: 10-12 Credit: 1-2
Prerequisite: Must have taken and earned a C or better in News and Broadcasting I. Must have teacher signature for Phase II In the second course within the Television and Film program. Students have the opportunity to truly begin to gain mastery over all phases of the production process. Students will spend time learning advanced lighting and sound techniques, becoming adept at filming using DSLR cameras, and learning and polishing their skills in advanced areas of video editing. Students will participate in a wide variety of projects that serve to both educate and excite students on the amazing opportunities for creative expression that video/film production make possible. Students will produce television news broadcasts, public service announcements, short films, and community service pieces. Students enrolling in this phase, will be required to put in hours outside of school at either the local television station or filming school activities/events. CTE and VPAA Credit fulfillment. A student who takes both Television and Film I & II classes in sequence and earns a C or better will be considered a completer.
